Upcoming and Past Trailwork

This Friday Morning to Mid-Day - Trail Maintenance - New Millennium Trail, Calabasas

Mix up your work week a bit on Friday to get outside, do some volunteer work and make a heavily overgrown trail ridable. We will be doing some much needed tread and brush work to clear out the invasive mustard plants. We started near the Bark Park trail on April 17 and made it in 0.7 mile. The Mountains Restoration Trust has had their crew on the trail doing brush removal as well. Start time and specific location is to be determined on Thursday after coordinating with MRT's crew. If you can make it please RSVP to Hans at trailcrew@corbamtb.com. Visit the  CORBA Calendar at www.corbamtb.com for time and directions.

This Saturday May 10th - Trail Workday Palos Verdes - Forrestal Reserve

Thanks to CORBA trails are open to bikes! Sponsored by CORBA and REI - Lunch and water will be provided for the first 50 people who sign-up. Tools and gloves will be provided, however, it is recommended that you bring your own gloves, water, and sunscreen. Long pants and good shoes required.

Our trail work efforts have given cyclists respect throughout the community. We need to show that we are committed to maintain and repair our trails through volunteer work. If you can't make it, find someone who can. No excuses! Sign in as CORBA or something that indicates you are a mountain biker. More details and directions on the Calendar at www.corbamtb.com.

Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm Location - 32201 Forrestal Dr, Rancho Palos Verdes. 90275 Visit

This Saturday May 10 -  Trail Workday Mount Wilson Trail - Sierra Madre

Your help is needed for post-fire restoration of the trail prior to the 100th anniversary of the Mt. Wilson Trail Running Race. The Mount Wilson Trail is a wonderful running and MTB trail. The trail was in great condition before the recent fire and needs you help to bring it back. This a great chance for Mt bikers, runners and hikers to work together for the common good. There is a lot of McLeod and shovel work to do. We need to cover about a mile within the next week. Visit the CORBA Calendar for more info at www.corbamtb.com.

June 7 New Trail Construction Santa Monica Mountians

National Trails Day. This is an exciting project building a new trail from the Peter Strauss Ranch to Malibu Creek State Park. We will be working with the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council and the Sierra Club Task Force. More information, see the Calendar at www.corbamtb.com

June 7 National Trails Day - Angeles National Forest

We will join the Forest Service and other trail user groups for a day of trail maintenance and a barbecue. There will be maintenance performed on many of the trails around Redbox. The CORBA Trail Crew will be working on the Valley Forge Trail. See the calendar at www.corbamtb.com

June 7th - National Trails Day - Palos Verdes

Sponsored by REI and CORBA at Canyons helping to maintain the trails. Details to follow on the CORBA Calendar.

Upcoming Recreational Rides

This Saturday May 10 - CORBA Recreational Novice Ride Sycamore Canyon/ Pt. Mugu State Park

A great ride for first timers to SBMBC. One of the easiest and most beautiful rides near Los Angeles! This will be an eight-mile round trip ride on fairly level ground with one stream crossing, some single track and fire road. The leader will go over the basics of how to ride a mountain bike as we enjoy following the river trail into Sycamore Canyon. For more information, http://www.sbmbc.com/newsletter.php?c=200805

Sunday May 11 - CORBA Recreational Ride - Advanced - Orange County San Juan to Blue Jay Campground

This is mainly an out (up) and back (down) ride and mainly on single-track. Most of the trail is exposed, and there is little shade throughout the ride. However, this is a great single-track trail, all but a few feet rideable. The ride is about 22 miles, 4700 ft. of climbing and should take about 5 hours. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

Free Mountain Biking Skills Clinic

Saturday June 7 is the next skills clinic.

The CORBA free skills clinic is held on the first Saturday of every month at Malibu Creek State Park.

Mountain biking is a lot like tennis or skiing. Just a few minor  adjustments in technique can make a huge difference in your control  and proficiency. If you want to get better faster, you need to know the fundamentals of mountain biking technique. Whether you're just  getting into mountain biking or have been riding for years, you'll learn some valuable tips from our Introduction to Mountain Biking  skills class that is offered each month. Check out our Skills Clinic web page for all the information. After the clinic, see photos of your new skills on the CORBA web site that you can share with your family and friends!
