Poker Rides: Self-guided rides from station to station using a route map and directions collecting 5 cards for the best poker hand. Prizes and raffle tickets will be awarded the best hands. The Beginner route is approx. 4.5 miles on fire roads and paved walk ways around the main staging area. The Intermediate route is approx. 9 miles and includes moderately steep climbs and moderately technical single track. The Advanced route is approx. 11 miles and has some steep climbs and descents, some technical single track. It also includes more optional single track this year.
Guided Rides:
Beginner Ride meets at 9 am at the REI exhibit. Ride includes mostly fire road, easy terrain and some short hills. Approx. 4.5 miles.
Intermediate Ride meets at 8:30 am in the demo area at the Brian Lopes van. Ride leaders will include members of the Subaru-Gary Fisher Regional Team and SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League. Ride includes several moderate climbs, technical single track, Approx. 9 miles.
Advanced Ride meets at 8:30 am in the demo area at the Brian Lopes van. Ride leaders will include legendary guest pros and World Champions Ned Overend and Brian Lopes, Specialized's Team Sho-Air Pro Sid Taberlay, and members of the Subaru-Gary Fisher Regional Team. The ride includes several moderate climbs, some steep climbs and descents. Approx. 11 miles.
Skills Clinic: Mark Langton, CORBA’s Skills Instructor, will hold a skills clinic with the assistance of legendary guest pros and World Champions Ned Overend and Brian Lopes, and Australian National Champion and Olympian Sid Taberlay. They will also be joined by guest riders from the Subaru Gary Fisher Regional Team and SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League. Riders of all skill levels are welcome to come join the clinic and learn from the best! This is your chance to learn from two of the most prominent world champions in the sport of mountain biking. Mark will conduct the skills clinic offering his expertise and more than 20 years as an instructor teaching basic techniques that everyone should know. A wonderful opportunity for riders of all skill levels!
Cynergy Hill Climb Contest: Cynergy Cycles sponsors this years Hill Climb Contest featuring a short and challenging climb for fastest ascent. Prizes awarded for the best times in each category. Sign up at the Cynergy exhibit.
Bike Warrior Wheelie Contest and Demo: Bike Warrior brings back its popular wheelie contest for the longest wheelie! Win great prizes! Learn how to wheelie in Ray’s wheelie demo clinic. Fun for all! Get it up!
NEW! Kids Fun Zone: Kids and their parents can have fun on special small skills features designed just for kids! Come ride and play all day! All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, helmets and signing the event waiver is required.
NEW! Kids Bike Parade: Decorate your tricycle, cruiser, mountain bike, or road bike then join the fun in a giant parade around the main staging area! Bring bikes already decorated or dress them up at our on-the-spot decorating booth. We will provide ribbons, streamers, stickers, flags and more! Special drawing to win prizes will be held at the Bike Parade booth. Parents or guardian must be present. Helmets and signing event waiver required.
Bring Your Best Shot FTF Photo Gallery! Bring your greatest mountain bike photo to the Fat Tire Fest and post it on the FTF Gallery board in the main exhibit area! Photos not to exceed 8 X 10. Post your photo and win an IMBA cap or wool socks while supplies last.
Girl Meets Bike—Cycling Fashion Show: Girl Meets Bike will celebrate the women of the fest with the ultimate treat: A fashion show! Look fashionable whether it’s riding from the office to the trailhead or from the trails to a post ride lunch. Today’s cycling fashions will surprise and delight you! Most clothing will be available for purchase at the Girl Meets Bike exhibit. A portion of the sales proceeds benefits CORBA’s programs.
Skills Features Area: Come test your skills and play on the skinnies, teeters, and ramps in the main staging area! Obstacles for various skill levels from beginner to expert.
Bike Limbo: How low can you go? Test your agility, flexibility and balance—the lower you can go without knocking off the bar—the more chances you have to win great prizes! All riders must use a standard bike.
Exhibitors/Demo bikes: Come see the hottest bikes just rolling out for 2010! Demo bikes from Giant, Specialized, Cannondale, Trek, Niner, Cynergy Cycles, Bionicon! Check out the latest bike gear from wheel sets to clothing in our exhibitor area in the main staging area!
Lunch: Enjoy Carmen’s famous tacos after the rides! Relax and kick back before you jump back in for the next event!
NEW!! Pre-Pull Raffle and Grand Finale Raffle! Win bikes and great bike gear! Win cool schwag from all the top bike companies and the best local bike shops! This year we will sell raffle tickets from 8 AM–3 PM. At 1 PM the drawing for accessories and bike gear will begin.
At 1:30 PM winning tickets for accessories and bike gear will be posted in the raffle area and prizes can be picked up any time.
Raffle ticket sales will continue until 3 PM when we start the live raffle drawing for major prizes such as bikes, frames, light systems, forks, etc. At 3 PM, we will have a live raffle drawing for these grand prizes!
